SCANN (Social Cognition & Affective Neurosciences in Neurodegeneration) is a team of the Lille Neuroscience & Cognition institute (Inserm Research Unit 1172), based at the University Hospital of Lille, France. It is part of the INTERACTIONS lab (INTEgrative Research in AffectIve, CogniTIve and sOcial NeuroSciences) directed by Drs. M. Bertoux & F. D'Hondt.

Our researches are focused on the identification and exploration of cultural, cognitive and neural mechanisms at play in social cognition, in other words, the cognitive processes that allow us to navigate the social world and apprehend the daily social life. Beside this basic goal, SCANN aims to develop new diagnostic and assessment tools for brain diseases, in a clinical perspective.

SCANN relies on different methodological approaches from experimental & social psychology, theoretical & clinical neuropsychology, data-driven statistics and brain imaging, with both neurotypical participants and patients with focal brain lesion or, more frequently, patients with a neuro-evolutive condition.

Fostering on collaborative research, SCANN is the coordinator team of the International Network on Social Cognition Disorders.
